In 2008 Visa Europe took ownership of the Sportsmedia bulletin network to promote their worldwide Olympic partnership of the Beijing Games. The brand's focus was the Team Visa mentoring scheme which offers financial support, training and publicity to young athletes. The scheme has backed the likes of current European 5,000m & 10,000m champion Mo Farah, gymnast Beth Tweddle and young diver Tom Daley, providing them with access and advice from five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave as well as Paralympic legend Dame Tanni Grey Thompson.
