SPORTSMEDIA'S RADIO NEWSROOM CLOSES: A MESSAGE FROM JONNY GOULD

On the last day of 2015, the curtain came down on an enterprise which diligently broadcast to millions of listeners across the UK and Europe everyday.

Through 24 years, Sportsmedia provided the radio industry with speech content funded by innovative editorialised sponsorship. Not advertorial - more a hybrid of sponsorship and PR which became a permanent fixture in over a hundred radio stations' output and provided year upon year of steady employment for its staff.

A combination of commercial factors means Sportsmedia is no longer viable and the daily operation based in the Queens Park newsroom and studios has closed down.

I'm immensely proud of Sportsmedia's achievements. With a staff amounting to no more than fifteen at its height, we packed a real punch covering hundreds of world class sports events from The Grand National to The Open, from Wimbledon to Cheltenham, Anfield to The Oval, Wembley to Paris to Plumpton to Gothenburg to Sheffield to Barcelona - even Frimley Green, we were there!

From the client list, a who's who of international brands. Coca Cola, McDonald's, VISA, Samsung, Budweiser, Barclays, Hewlett Packard, Global, Sky, Bloomberg, ESPN. The list is long.

To my many. many clients, thank you for your friendship, camaraderie and custom. You gave us a lot to do - and it was a pleasure!

But it's loyal staff who deserve the biggest accolade. From our studios, firstly in North Kensington then Queens Park, they provided literally millions of bespoke broadcasts impacting billions of times to an audience of tens of millions.

Many a talented young reporter cut their teeth at Sportsmedia including prominent national broadcasters today like Vassos Alexander, Andy Burton, Gideon Coe, David Garrido, Russ Hargreaves, Kevin Hatchard and the Moose, Ian Abrahams to name but a few! We remember the late Jon Myers at this time.

And Sportsmedia provided so many life opportunities for me too. A fast track for unrivalled knowledge and experience - even status. I'm very grateful for every moment of it.

It's not entirely the end. Sportsmedia and Businessmedia's twitter feeds of audio and text content remain and special event presentation & production is open to discuss new projects.

And personally, I'm not done with the radio industry either. It's only January but there are already number of exciting opportunities on the table for me to ponder.

But this is a note of gratitude to thank you sincerely for helping, joining and enriching me on this journey - and for those coming with me at this fork in the road, I'll see you soon!

Kind regards,

Jonny Gould.

There's been another rapid-expansion in Audience Reach as both new stations and new areas join to enlarge Sportsmedia and Businessmedia's bulletin network.

Sportsmedia prides itself in its ability to talk right across the UK - while at the same time drilling down with local news for every community.

In addition to Greater London, Greater Manchester and the East Midlands, Gold Radio of Global plc, will now broadcast our sports and finance bulletins to Birmingham, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Cornwall, Exeter/Torbay/North Devon, Kent, Norwich, Peterborough, Plymouth, Reading/Basingstoke, Southend/Chelmsford, Sussex Coast, Swindon and Ayr.

In addition, Voice FM in Southampton and Cotswold FM are also on board and we go live with Manchester Business Radio, Asian Star Radio and Zetland FM in Cleveland in the coming days.

Commenting on this development, Managing Director, Jonny Gould said, "This is great news for our service and for our sponsors, who'll now receive still bigger exposure - and vindication of the excellence of our long-serving and professional reporting team."

We're welcoming new Community Radio stations to our network all the time!

At Sportsmedia's studios here in London, we're taking calls and emails everyday from new stations looking to add sports bulletins and finance news to their output - or increase the amount of bulletins already broadcast from us.

We provide Community Radio stations with bulletins three-times daily - at breakfast, lunchtime and drivetime - but if a major story breaks, standby for an updated bulletin in the inbox!

But it's not just sports bulletins, we do finance news too.

We provide these bulletins in MP3 via email or FTP. To learn more about our services - or to get in touch about increasing the amount of content available, email info@sportsmedia.co.uk.

If you're an existing station, please let us know the daily times you transmit our bulletins.

Your support is gratefully received. Whether you're a new or old client station, thank you!

Jonny Gould.

Managing Director.

PicturetalkSPORT at Sportsmedia enables lesser disruption
talkSPORT Radio will broadcast live from Sportsmedia's studio facilities in the early hours of the 17th November. The six-hour Extra Time show will come from Queen's Park for the first time.

The national commercial station has turned to Sportsmedia, whose CEO Jonny Gould is also a presenter. talkSPORT's engineering department is preparing for a final planned outage of their standby mains electricity forcing the station to temporarily relocate.

The deal was agreed between Jonny and Steve Morgan, talkSPORT''s deputy programme director ensuring presenter Russ Hargreaves and producer Olly Hunter can stay in London to make the programme, instead of temporarily locating to another UTV-owned facility in Wigan.

The programme will be made and broadcast from Sportsmedia and sent live on ISDN to talkSPORT's transmission.

Jonny Gould CEO of Sportsmedia said, "It's a pleasure to help friends in the business Steve and Liam Fisher to help keep talkSPORT's programmers together more locally".

"We use our own studios everyday for syndicating live sports and finance bulletins to hundreds of stations and make podcasts for a multitude of clients. To host a live national sports show from here is another feather in our cap"
